Man injured as armed gang rob two flats in west Belfast

A man has been kicked in the face and a woman has been threatened at knifepoint by a gang during robberies in Belfast.

Police said three men, wearing masks and dark clothing, forced their way into a flat in Corrib Avenue at about 02:50 BST on Sunday.

They threatened a woman with a knife and then ransacked the flat, stealing bank cards and jewellery.

The gang then entered a second flat in the same street and kicked a man in the face before escaping with cash.

The victim, who had been forced onto the floor, suffered swelling to his jaw.

A woman, who was also in the second flat at the time of the robbery, was not injured.

The injured man and the woman who was threatened at knifepoint are both aged in their 30s.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the robberies to contact them.
