Man is stabbed in head and back during Belfast burglary

A man has been stabbed in the head and back during a burglary at his home in north Belfast.

He was injured when he answered the door of his house to a man in Joanmount Park at about 22:35 BST on Tuesday.

The man's wife was also injured in the burglary. She sustained a gash to her arm and suffered shock.

The couple were treated in hospital for their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. The burglar was in his late 20s, and of slim build.

He was wearing a black hat and a tracksuit.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the attack to contact either them or the independent charity, Crimestoppers.
