Michaela trial: key witnesses 'not interviewed'
Police investigating the murder of a young bride in Mauritius failed to take statements from potential key witnesses, a court has heard.
Mrs McAreavey, 27, from Tyrone, was found dead during her honeymoon at the Legends Hotel in January 2011.
Avinash Treebhoowoon, 30, and and Sandip Moneea, 42, who worked at the hotel, both deny murder.
The trial in Mauritius was told on Friday that key hotel residents were not questioned.
The court was told that a couple staying at the hotel who wanted to make a statement to detectives were not given the opportunity.
The trial heard that the residents staying in rooms adjacent to the McAreavey's suite in the complex were not questioned after the murder.
The court was told that the hotel nurse and a doctor staying at the resort who both attended Mrs McAreavey were not interviewed by the Mauritian police.
The hearing is due to continue on Monday.
