Pensioner hit in head with pellet outside Mater Hospital

An 85-year-old woman has been struck in the head with a pellet outside the Mater Hospital in north Belfast.

The pensioner had been getting out of a car on her way to visit a relative at the hospital on the Crumlin Road when she was hit.

She received treatment for her injury, which is not thought to be serious.

A police spokeswoman said detectives were aware of similar incidents in the area in recent days, and investigations were ongoing.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
