Shop worker collapses during Dublin robbery

A shop worker is seriously ill in hospital after he collapsed during a robbery near Dublin city centre.

Irish police said a man entered a shop on James Street at about 21:50 BST on Saturday and threatened two male members of staff with a syringe.

A struggle took place and one the shop staff, aged in his 30s, collapsed and had to be taken to St James' Hospital.

Gardai said the suspect, who is also aged in his 30s, sustained a leg injury and was arrested at the scene.

He was also taken to St James' Hospital for treatment.
