An alleged rioter threw himself at police lines clutching an Irish flag during trouble in north Belfast on 12 July, the High Court has been told.

Aiden McCrory is also accused of throwing masonry, bricks and bottles during street violence in Ardoyne.

The 24-year-old, of Eglantine Avenue, is charged with rioting, two counts of assault on police and resisting arrest.

His bail application was adjourned when it emerged he would be taken for more questioning on Thursday.

A prosecution lawyer told the court the accused was allegedly seen throwing a number of objects.

"He also threw himself at police lines holding a tricolour flag," she said.

The lawyer said Mr McCrory was arrested at the scene.

Adjourning the application for bail, Mr Justice McCloskey said all issues should be resolved before the hearing resumes.

"I'm not going to proceed on the basis of a manifestly incomplete matrix," the judge said.
