Man arrested in VAT fraud probe

A 29 year old County Down man has been arrested in connection with a £200,000 VAT repayment fraud linked to the agricultural industry.

He was detained by HM Revenue & Customs criminal investigators.

Premises in the Banbridge area were searched on 7 August as part of an investigation into suspected VAT and money laundering offences.

Investigations are ongoing and the man has been bailed to appear at a later date.
