Man charged with murder of Limerick rugby player

A 29-year-old man has appeared in court in Dublin charged with the murder of Limerick rugby player Shane Geoghegan.

John Dundon of Hyde Road in Limerick was brought before the non-jury Special Criminal Court.

One man has already been convicted for the murder.

Mr Geoghegan was shot five times in a case of mistaken identity, in November 2008.

Mr Dundon made no reply when the charge was read to him other than to confirm his name.

He was remanded in custody for six weeks.
