Swimmer rescued by lifeboat near Cushendall

A 43-year-old man has been rescued after getting into difficulty while swimming off the County Antrim coast.

The alarm was raised at about 13:00 BST on Sunday by a member of the public who saw the Ballymena man waving for help about a quarter of a mile off shore at Cushendall.

The man was rescued by Red Bay lifeboat and the crew gave the man first aid until an ambulance crew arrived.

He was taken to Antrim Hospital where is condition is not yet known.
