Woman charged with stabbing man in Ardoyne

A woman has appeared in court charged with stabbing a man in north Belfast.

Denise Ireland, 22, of Oakman Street in the city, was charged at Belfast Magistrates Court with attempting to murder Damien McMahon on Sunday.

The victim, also aged 22, was stabbed in the back at Havana Court in Ardoyne on Sunday morning. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Ms Ireland did not seek bail but will make an application on Thursday to be released. She was remanded in custody.
