Residents return to homes after Lambeg alert

Residents who were forced to leave their homes because of a security alert in Lambeg, near Lisburn, have been allowed to return.

Army technical officers were called to examine a suspicious object at a house in the Glenmore area on Monday evening.

It was later declared a hoax. Residents returned to their homes after 01:00 GMT on Tuesday.

DUP assembly member Paul Givan condemned those responsible for leaving the object.

He said it was outrageous that in freezing temperatures people were forced to leave their homes and stay in a nearby civic centre.
