Police seize £1m worth of cannabis in Lisburn

Police have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of more than £1m in Lisburn, County Antrim.

The drugs were discovered when police stopped a vehicle at Hillsborough Road roundabout in the city on Wednesday evening.

A senior police officer has described it as a "significant seizure of controlled drugs".

Police have arrested a 49-year-old man as part of their investigation.

Det Ch Supt Roy McComb said: "This represents a significant seizure of controlled drugs and reinforces our commitment to reduce the harm to the community which is posed by drugs.

"We are appealing for anyone with any information concerning this or any other incident regarding the supply or distribution of controlled drugs to contact their local police."
