Belfast guitar company wins £400,000 Brazil contract

A Belfast company has won a £400,000 contract to supply guitars to Brazil.

IBC Trading Ltd will send classical, acoustic and electric instruments to the company, Giannini.

The two companies made contact during an Invest Northern Ireland trade mission to China in November 2012.

IBC Trading Ltd was one of 14 Northern Ireland firms participating in the Invest Northern Ireland trade mission to Brazil.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said news of the contract was "immensely encouraging".

"Their achievement shows the importance of local companies seizing the opportunities that are available in new and developing markets," she said.

"It is immensely encouraging news for locally-owned companies who are working to build relationships and break into overseas markets.

"Often it is a slow and difficult process, however, contracts such as this show that companies can achieve growth by diversifying markets and forming strategic partnerships."
