'Gun' recovered in Strabane security alert

A suspected firearm has been recovered during a security alert in Strabane, County Tyrone.

Police made the discovery during a search of a house in the Ballycolman estate on Saturday morning.

Army technical officers were called to the scene and four houses were evacuated while the gun was examined.

The residents, who had to leave their homes at 09:20 BST, were allowed to return at about 14:00 BST. The gun was taken away for further examination.
