Murder bid arrests after sword used in Belfast burglary

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 35-year-old man was injured in an aggravated burglary in Ballysillan, north Belfast.

He was hurt when two men - one armed with a sword and the other armed with a knife - entered his house at Alliance Court at about 02:50 BST on Sunday.

After the burglary, the armed men made off in a silver transit van in the direction of Ligoneil.

The injured man was taken to hospital but was released later on Sunday.

The arrested men are aged 26 and 28.

In a statement, PSNI Det Ch Insp Alan Little said" I would ask anyone that has any information about this incident to please contact CID (Criminal Investigation Department) in Tennent Street police station on 0845 600 8000.
