Woman, 49, assaulted in west Belfast

A woman has been attacked in what police have described a "serious assault" in west Belfast.

The 49-year-old woman was given a lift by a man in a car on the Falls Road, close to the Royal Victoria Hospital, early on Sunday evening, 8 September.

She was driven to a lay-by on the Wheelers Road, close to its junction with Tornagrough Road, where it is believed she was assaulted.

She was then driven back to the junction of the Falls Road and St James Park, and dumped out of the car.

The car is believed to have been a silver, four-door vehicle.

The police have appealed for information.
