Pair armed with machete rob cash van in County Tyrone

The police have appealed for witnesses

A sum of money has been stolen during an armed robbery of a cash-in-transit van in County Tyrone.

Two men, armed with a machete, stole a cash box in Moore Street, Aughnacloy, about midday on Friday.

It is understood the robbers made off towards Monaghan. One of the men is said to have been 5' 10", of solid build, and was wearing a balaclava.

The police have appealed for witnesses or anyone who saw two vehicles to contact them.

A PSNI statement said: "Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed anything or who saw a dark coloured saloon car and a light coloured car in the area at the time."
