Woman sexually assaulted on Lagan towpath

Police have appealed for witnesses to what they describe as a serious sexual assault on a young woman on the Lagan towpath last week.

The 20-year-old was attacked by three men near Moors Bridge, Lisburn, County Antrim, at 18:30 BST on 9 September.

Police have asked people who were in the area at the time to contact them.

They include a woman who was walking her dog and accompanied by a teenager on a bicycle, an elderly man and two male joggers.

A PSNI spokeswoman has asked for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information about it, to contact the rape crime unit on 02890 700305.
