Larne trouble: Charges over related incident dropped

Charges have been dropped against two men accused of affray and possessing an offensive weapon following trouble in Larne, County Antrim, last weekend.

They were arrested in connection with an incident on Saturday.

It is believed to have been linked to trouble on Sunday when police, residents and a number of homes in Ferris Avenue were attacked.

Ballymena Magistrates' Court was told there was no evidence to connect the men to the offences.

Although the charges were withdrawn, the police said they were still proceeding by way of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
