The Balmoral Show is under way at the old Maze Prison site near Lisburn, County Antrim.
Tens of thousands of people are attending the agricultural and food show over the next three days.
Princess Anne, who is visiting Northern Ireland, officially opened the show and spent the day talking to exhibitors.
The attractions included the annual sheep shearing competition.
It is the second year that the show has been held at the former Maze Prison site, after it moved from the King's Hall in 2013.
Many animals are on display, including sheep, ponies, horses, pigs, goats and cattle.
Several show jumping competitions are also taking place over the course of three days.
The event is run and organised by the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society and is now in its 146th year.
The show runs for three days, ending on Friday.
