Killyleagh security alert declared a hoax

A security alert in Killyleagh, County Down has ended after a suspicious object discovered at a house in the village was declared to be a hoax.

It began on Wednesday morning, when an occupant of the house in the Castleview area told police his window had been broken and the object had been found.

A number of homes were evacuated and the area was cordoned off while bomb disposal officers examined the scene.

They declared it to be a hoax and the residents had been allowed to go home.
