Man charged after drugs seizure in south Belfast

A 40-year-old man has been charged with eight offences after the seizure of a quantity of suspected herbal cannabis in south Belfast.

Police discovered an estimated £560,000 worth of the drug and a substantial amount of cash in the search.

The man was detained in the Donegall Quay area on Wednesday morning and is due to appear in court on Friday.

A 29-year-old woman also arrested has been released on police bail.

A 30-year-old man arrested near Westland Road, Portadown, remains in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.

Further searches were carried out at other properties in south Belfast and Carrickfergus.
