Asidua sold to outsourcing firm Civica

Software firm Asidua has been bought by London-based outsourcing services company Civica for an undisclosed sum.

Asidua employs over 130 employees. Its headquarters are in Belfast and it has offices in Dublin and Birmingham.

The company provides software and consultancy services to government and corporate clients in the UK, Europe, the US and Asia.

Civica provides IT and telecoms services to central and local government and healthcare bodies.

It has over 2,000 employees in 30 locations around the world.

Steve Brankin, chief executive of Asidua, said the deal was a "positive development" for customers and employees.

"The company is well placed in respect of market opportunities and we are delighted that Civica is eager to support us in realising these," he said.

Asidua's last published accounts for 2013 show that the company had turnover of just over £6m with profits of £51,000.

At that time the firm had equity shareholders funds of £5.5m.

The shareholders are Asidua's directors, with chief executive Stephen Brankin owning just under 25% of the shares.

The accounts suggest the average salary at the firm is around £39,000 with the highest paid director receiving a salary of £178,000.
