Four men arrested after a police operation in west Belfast on Thursday night are still being questioned.

Police stopped a taxi on the Grosvenor Road and arrested one man and recovered an assault rifle and ammunition.

Three other men were arrested in a follow-up operation in the Springfield Road area.

One of the four men - who is aged 27 - is also being questioned about a rocket attack on police in north Belfast four days earlier.

The rocket attack damaged a police vehicle in north Belfast on Sunday.

It struck the Land Rover on Twaddell Avenue but no-one was injured.

At the time, police said the device had been fired by a man who came out of the Brompton Park area of the city.

All four men arrested over the Grosvenor Road security operation are being questioned at Antrim police station.

Part of the Grosvenor Road was closed for a time on Thursday night and the early hours of Friday.

The security operation began shortly after 22:00 GMT.
