Londonderry: Man who set out to name and shame 'had indecency history'

A man who set up a Facebook page to name and shame convicted sex offenders has four previous convictions for indecency, it was revealed in court.

He is Joseph McCloskey, 39, from Anderson Crescent, Limavady.

His criminal record - with 96 previous convictions over 23 years - was handed to the district judge at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Monday.

Theses include four indecency offences, 14 drugs offences, 26 motoring offences and 15 public order offences.

In court, he admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a man outside a bar near Derry city centre on 20 September 2014.

A barrister said it was "a particularly serious assault" and that McCloskey had "very relevant previous convictions".

The judge ordered a pre-sentence report. McCloskey was released on continuing bail.
