Medical secretaries in the Western Trust have voted to go on strike in November.

Their trade union, NIPSA, said they were paid less than their colleagues in Northern Ireland's other trust areas.

The union says that more than 30 workers had been left with a pay gap of £4,000 because of a regrading process.

In a statement the Western Trust said the process of grading the posts had been "completed in partnership with Trade Unions".

Alan Law said the decision to take strike action was a "last resort".

The trust said it was "working to minimise disruption to Trust services."
