Glenn Connor jailed for assaulting police in Ballykelly

A man has been jailed for four months for assaulting two police officers at the scene of a police investigation in Ballykelly.

Glenn Connor, 30, from Shackelton Crescent, was also charged with resisting arrest and disorderly behaviour.

The offences occurred while police were investigating an incident near the defendant's home on Friday morning.

He later apologised to police for his actions.

Londonderry Magistrates' Court was told that Connor admitted jumping in front of the detective's car.

The officer was forced to swerve to avoid colliding with the accused and as he did so Connor jumped into the passenger seat of the car.

He admitted spitting at and attempting to bite police officers after his arrest and he also admitted refusing several police requests to walk away.

Connor, who also verbally abused police officers, later apologised to them for his actions.
