Woman says she was threatened with gun in Londonderry

A woman said she was threatened with what she believed was a gun while walking home in Londonderry on Sunday night.

Police said a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of carrying a firearm, making threats to kill and having articles to commit arson following an incident in Altcar Park shortly before 21:30 BST.

A firing pistol and petrol can were also recovered.

There were no injuries.

Caoimhe McClean, 18, said the man held a gun to her neck.

"I shoved him back and the gun then slipped in his hand and I ran down the hill fast," she said.

The young woman said it was a terrifying experience.

She was with three other people when it happened, but they ran on as they "were scared as well".
