Broken glass on pitch could shut Strabane rugby club

The president of Strabane Rugby Club has said it could be forced to close after vandals spiked its ground with broken glass.

The pitch at Bradley Way has been unplayable since the weekend, when smashed bottles were found driven into the turf.

The club has already had to abandon one fixture.

Gerry Taylor said he fears it "could finish" the club.

"I'm depressed, because I can't see what we'll do.

"There aren't any pitches, we've tried everywhere but we just can't get them.

"If we're lucky the grammar school will lend us their pitch, and we might have two matches, but we can't descend on them every Saturday.

"I don't know what the future is."
