Woman with 40 previous convictions jailed for assault

A woman with 40 previous convictions has been jailed for nine months at Londonderry Magistrates Court.

20-year-old Stacey Magee from Jefferson Court with serve a further nine months on licence for taking part in an assault on a man at a house party three years ago.

The victim, who was described in court as vulnerable, was forced to hand over his bank link card and pin number.

Magee took his card and stole £480 from his account.

She also admitted pouring vodka and beer over the victim in what was described in court as a "humiliating and degrading manner".

Sentencing Magee, Judge Piers Grant said the 20-year-old alcoholic had been given numerous chances by the court to turn her life around.

As well as imposing the jail sentence, Judge Grant ordered Magee to pay her victim compensation of £2480.
