Man's eye socket broken in Creggan assault

A man has sustained a broken eye socket, a cracked jaw and a cracked cheekbone after he was attacked by three men in Londonderry.

Police said the injured man, who is in his 20s, was "jumped from behind" close to St Joseph's Boys' School in Creggan at about 03:15 BST on Sunday.

They said he will require surgery for his injuries.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about the assault to contact them.
