Londonderry bookmakers robbed again over Christmas
A Derry bookmakers has been robbed for the second year in a row during the Christmas period.
At about 17:25 GMT on Wednesday a masked man entered the shop in the Elmwood Street area of the city.
Staff were threatened before the man escaped with cash. Sinn Féin councillor Colly Kelly said staff were left badly shaken.
"This is another frightening experience the week before Christmas and I really feel for the staff," he said.
"Everyone should now be vigilant because it's the second time the shop has been targeted.
"Small businesses in particular need to be careful not to keep large amounts of cash on their premises.
"This is the last thing people want to see and residents in the area are shocked."
The same Ladbrokes shop was the target of an armed robbery on 26 December last year.
Police have appealed for information about the latest robbery.
