Scottish justice reforms come into force

Ministers want to tackle reoffending with alternatives to jail terms

Wide-ranging justice reforms, including making stalking a criminal offence, have come into force in Scotland.

The Criminal Justice and Licensing Act, also brings in a series of measures to tackle organised crime.

These include punishments for the use of mobile phones in prison.

Other measures in the bill, including a presumption against prison sentences of three months or less, are coming into force at a later date.

As is a move to raise the age at which a child can be prosecuted in an adult court from eight to 12.
