Elderly woman assaulted on Dundee street

An elderly woman is recovering after being assaulted and robbed on a Dundee street.

The 79-year-old victim sustained injuries to her face, hands and knees during the incident in Caldrum Terrace at about 1425 GMT on Saturday.

Tayside Police said she was walking along the street when a man attacked her and stole her handbag, leaving her badly shaken.

They are appealing for witnesses to the assault.

Police are seeking a man who was last seen running westwards in Mains Street towards Strathmartine Road. He was wearing a yellow hooded top and dark jogging bottoms or jeans.
