A 20-year-old man has been arrested after a four-hour siege at a flat in Dumfries and Galloway.
Police were called to the first-floor flat in Esk Place, Annan, at about 1820 GMT on Sunday after reports of an ongoing disturbance.
Firearms officers were called and surrounding flats were evacuated after the man was assessed as a considerable risk to himself and others.
He was eventually arrested over serious public order offences.
He will appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Insp Graeme Kerr, of Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary, said: "Because of the swift deployment of local police officers, the flat in question was quickly secured and the occupant contained.
"Public safety was of paramount importance and, as a precaution, the neighbouring flats were evacuated.
"Those moved out of their homes were accommodated at a local sports hall which was opened as a reception centre."
Insp Kerr said local officers were supported by firearms officers because of the potential threat.
