Appeal after man found dead in shopping centre in Elgin

Police are appealing for witnesses following the unexplained sudden death of a 63-year-old man in Moray.

Alexander McKay, from Lhanbryde in Moray, was found lying in a shopping precinct in Elgin just after 2000 GMT on Thursday.

He had been carrying a rucksack and is believed to have been walking towards the Northport car park, near the Press and Journal office.

Mr McKay was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are appealing for members of the public, including taxi drivers at the nearby taxi rank on High Street, to come forward with any information which may assist their inquiries.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: "We are not treating the death of Mr McKay as suspicious. However, we are keen to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and would be grateful for any assistance the public can provide."
