MSPs will vote later on the convenerships of the Scottish Parliament's committees.
The SNP will take the lead role in eight of the 14 committees, including finance, infrastructure and education.
Labour is expected to convene four committees including audit and health, while the Conservatives will take the chair on the economy committee.
A row about the chair of the health committee saw Labour's Malcolm Chisholm resign from his party's frontbench.
He had been his party's education spokesman for just more than a week when he decided to step down from the post.
Mr Chisholm said he had reconsidered his position after failing to be appointed convener of Holyrood's health committee.
Mr Chisholm will now return to the backbenches and Ken Macintosh will take over the education portfolio.
