Lothian and Borders Police has denied it has stopped looking for the body of Edinburgh woman Suzanne Pilley.

The 38-year-old bookkeeper disappeared in May. Her former lover, David Gilroy, 47, has been charged with, and denies, her murder. He is now out on bail.

Newspaper reports suggested police have given up the search for Ms Pilley's body unless new clues come to light.

But the force said the search was continuing on an intelligence-led basis.

A police spokesman said there had never been a permanently active search for Ms Pilley, whose remains are thought to have been disposed of in Argyll.

Ms Pilley was last seen arriving at her office in Edinburgh's city centre on 4 May.

Mr Gilroy's wife, Andrea Gilroy, has been charged by police with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
