A two-year-old girl has been treated for facial injuries after being attacked by a dog in North Berwick.

She was in the garden of a house she was visiting in Glenburn Road on Saturday when she was bitten twice in the face.

The child's parents took her to Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital, where she was detained overnight for observation.

Last week two 10-year-old girls were injured in separate dog attacks in Dundee and Kilmarnock.

Lothian and Borders Police are investigating the circumstances of the attack in North Berwick.

The dog is in its owner's care.
