Witness appeal after pedestrian hit by car in Edinburgh

Police have appealed for witnesses after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Edinburgh.
The 25-year-old man was at Picardy Place, at the junction with Broughton Street, at about 0320 BST when he stepped onto the road and was struck by a Vauxhall Vectra.
He was taken to the Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for serious head and neck injuries.
A police spokesman said the area was often busy, even in the early hours.
