A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a pub landlord in East Lothian.

Steven Curran, 47, who ran the Dolphin Inn at Whitecraig, was found at the back of the pub on Thursday morning.

The 23-year-old man has also been charged with stealing a car and is expected to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Monday.

Mr Curran's wife Jill paid tribute to her husband and said the family was devastated by their loss.

She described him as very family orientated and said that she and their two daughters, aged six and 13, were the centre of his life.

In a statement issued through the police, Mrs Curran said: "We are all devastated by recent events which have taken Steven from our close-knit family.

"He was a much-loved husband, father, brother and son who will be sorely missed."

Mr Curran's body was found at 0200 BST on Thursday. At about 0015 BST police received reports that a car had collided with a central reservation on the A1 near Dunbar.

The car was later found abandoned.
