Man held over Bannatyne's gym shooting released

A man who was due to appear in court charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting outside an Edinburgh gym has been released.

Robert Kelbie, 27, was injured in the attack in the car park of Bannatyne's Health Club in Newcraighall on Wednesday 20 October.

Police had sent a report to the procurator fiscal a 24-year-old man in relation to the alleged incident.

However, the procurator fiscal released him pending further enquiries.

He had been due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

A Crown Office spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the procurator fiscal at Edinburgh has received a report concerning a 24-year-old man in relation to an alleged incident on 20 October 2010.

"After full and careful consideration of all the facts and circumstances, the procurator fiscal decided he should be liberated pending further enquiries. He did not appear in court."
