Policeman charged over Edinburgh Hogmanay car death
A policeman has been charged in connection with an alleged road traffic offence after a Hogmanay reveller died in Edinburgh.
The 25-year-old has been reported to the procurator fiscal by Lothian and Borders Police.
Martin Douglas had been at Edinburgh's street party with his wife, Lisa.
The 41-year-old was crossing Union Place, near the Edinburgh Playhouse, at 0430 GMT on New Year's Day when he was struck by a black Toyota.
Mr Douglas, from Hay Gardens in the city, was taken to Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary after the incident but died from his injuries a short time later.
