Two people have been charged with leaving a bottle of a recreational drug at a party and allegedly causing three men who drank it to fall unconscious.

John Cummings and Heather Rumble are accused of leaving the undiluted Gamma Butyrolactone at a house in Moat Place, Edinburgh on Saturday.

Mr Cummings, 41, and Ms Rumble, 27, both of Musselburgh, made no plea or declaration at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Kenneth Maciver released them on bail and the case was continued.

It is alleged the drug was taken by Alex Moran, Rory Healy and Peter O'Connor, all in their 20s, endangering their lives.
