Taiwanese woman found unconscious in Water of Leith


A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after she was found floating unconscious in an Edinburgh river.

The 23-year-old, who is a Taiwanese national, was found in the Water of Leith, near Well Court in the Dean Village, at 0515 BST on Tuesday.

From CCTV footage, the woman is known to have arrived at Waverley Station from London at 2000 BST on Monday.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the woman in the hours before she was found.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "We are still carrying out inquiries to determine what led the young woman to the Water of Leith and are seeking the assistance of the public with our investigation.

"Anyone who thinks they may have seen her in the Well Court area or around Waverley station is urged to come forward."
