Youth stabbed with broken bottle in Westerhailes

Police in Edinburgh have appealed for witnesses after a youth was stabbed in the chest with a broken bottle.

The 16-year-old was attacked by a man in Westburn Park, Westerhailes, between 0800 and 0900 BST on Sunday.

The suspect is described as white, in his early 20s, 5ft 10ins tall, with dark hair, and wearing a blue T-shirt.

In a separate incident, two men were detained after a man suffered a serious head injury in an attack in the Cables Wynd area of Leith at about 0100 BST.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where is condition was described as critical.

Lothian and Borders Police have also appealed for witnesses to an unprovoked attack in Leopold Place, Edinburgh, which left a man seriously injured.

A 33-year-old man was walking alone towards London Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, when he was punched in the face by one of four men who walked passed him.

He fell backwards and hit his head off the pavement. The group then walked off towards Elm Row.
