A man has appeared in court charged with murder after another man was found seriously injured in a park in Edinburgh over the weekend.

Ebrahim Aryaei Nekoo, 41, died after being discovered in Saughton Park on Saturday morning.

Stephan Nolan, 47, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody when he appeared on petition at the city's sheriff court.

Mr Nekoo's wife has described him as a "warm and devoted husband".

In a statement, released through Lothian and Borders Police, Mobina Jafari said: "Ebrahim was a warm and devoted husband who I adored and who was well liked within our close group of friends.

"Everyone who knew and cared for him is completely shocked and devastated by his death and we are all still trying to come to terms with this tragedy.

"His friends and family would like to thank the wider community for their messages of support during what has been a very difficult time for us all.

"We would all now ask that our privacy is respected while we grieve for the loss of Ebrahim."
