Trapped woman rescued from fire in Edinburgh

A woman has been rescued from an Edinburgh flat after she was trapped by fire behind her front door.

The 28-year-old woman was rescued from the third-floor flat in Potterrow by firefighters who broke down her door.

The emergency services were called at 07:15 and the fire was extinguished 25 minutes later.

The woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal infirmary suffering from smoke inhalation. An investigation into how the fire started is now under way.
