Two children and a man have been taken to hospital after their dinghy capsized in an Edinburgh reservoir.

Emergency services were called to the incident at Threipmuir Reservoir in Balerno at about 14:30.

The 45-year-old man and the two children - a boy aged five and an eight-year-old girl - were taken to the capital's Royal Infirmary.

They received treatment for "slight hypothermia", a Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue spokesman said.

"Three crews were dispatched to the scene with water rescue equipment," he said.

"When they arrived at the reservoir, the three people were already on the shore and they were given first-aid treatment."

The two-mile long reservoir in the Pentland Hills is a popular fishing venue and was formerly used as a water supply for Edinburgh.
