Woman victim of Edinburgh road rage attack

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was the victim of a road rage incident in Edinburgh.

The 28-year-old, who was alone in her car, was waiting at traffic lights when a man who was in the car behind got out of his black Honda Accord.

He attempted to open the door of her car, kicked it and subjected her to a "sustained verbal assault" before returning to his vehicle.

The incident happened on Newcraighall Road, at the junction under the A1.

The suspect drove off northwards onto the A1 after the incident.

He is described as being white, in his mid-40s, of medium build and about 5ft 7in tall.

He had short, black, slightly receding hair, and was wearing a dark plain polo shirt and jeans with dark, thick round glasses.

PC Neill Watt said: "This appears to have been an entirely unprovoked incident and while the young woman involved was not injured in any way, she has been left understandably shaken.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the Newcraighall area at lunchtime yesterday and who may have seen what happened to contact us."
